BEFORE YOU START

STOP THE VIDEO AT ANY TIME, WHILE YOU GET READY,

AND RE-START WHEN YOU WANT TO PROCEED.

1.  MAKE SURE TO WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING, THAT MAKES IT EASY FOR YOU TO STRETCH AND MOVE. TRADITIONAL DANCEWEAR WOULD BE LEOTARD + TIGHTS; OR FOR TUMBLING/GYMNASTICS – STRETCH PANTS/LEGGINGS + T-SHIRT OR TANK TOP (FORM FITTED).  APPROPRIATE SHOES SHOULD BE WORN FOR THE STYLE OF VIDEO.  IF THERE ARE CONCERNS FOR TAP SHOES DAMAGING A FLOOR, TENNIS SHOES CAN BE WORN FOR HOME PRACTICE.

2.  FIND A SPACE WHERE YOU CAN EASILY MOVE, WITHOUT BUMPING INTO FURNITURE, OR TRIPPING OVER RUGS OR PETS.  YOU MAY NEED TO RE-ARRANGE YOUR SPACE TO ALLOW YOU MAXIMUM MOVEMENT.

3.  FOR BALLET, JAZZ, AND HIP-HOP, A SOFT SURFACE IS FINE.
FOR TAP, A FLAT SURFACE WORKS BEST (IF NECESSARY, FIND A SMALL [3’x3’ OR LARGER] PIECE OF PLYWOOD TO DANCE ON).
FOR TUMBLING/ GYMNASTICS, A SOFT SURFACE IS ESSENTIAL!  THE FLOOR MUST BE CARPETED OR HAVE A CUSHION/ MAT.  YOGA MATS WORK WELL.

4.  SET UP YOUR COMPUTER OR TV SO YOU CAN EASILY VIEW THE VIDEO, AND CHECK THE VOLUME LEVEL, SO YOU WON’T HAVE DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING THE INSTRUCTIONS.

5.  HAVE FUN, AND REMEMBER THAT YOU STILL NEED TO PRACTICE YOUR STRETCHES, STEPS, SKILLS, AND ROUTINES, EVEN THOUGH WE CAN’T HAVE CLASSES AT THE STUDIO RIGHT NOW – SO, WHEN WE DO RETURN TO CLASS, YOU WILL BE READY TO GET RIGHT BACK TO LEARNING NEW SKILLS AND NOT HAVE LOST ANY FLEXIBILITY.
