The Director

Krista Cardwell is an accomplished, performer, choreographer and teacher, with over 20 years in the industry. Krista is the Owner/Director of Ignite Dance Project, a Burlington, Ontario based dance studio, founded September 2016. Krista is a full member of the Performing Arts Educators of Canada (PAEC) in the Jazz and Ballet division. She is also a proud member of the Professional Adjudicators Alliance.  Originally from Hamilton she has trained at an Elite level in such styles as Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, and Ballet.

As a fully certified dance instructor, Krista is best known for continuously striving to provide the best in dance education. Krista feels the importance of preparing her students for a career in dance and theatre ism of the upmost imporatance. And that creating well rounded dancers is extremely important. Her students are continually recognized for their fabulous technique and cleanliness.  Krista’s outstanding choreography has earned her students to win top marks and overall titles. As well as earning Top Choreographer of the competition. Her students have also earned Cash scholarships, as well as countless overall titles, Junior Superstar Soloist, Dance Off Champions, Overall Division Winners, Top Mark of the competition to name a few. Her students have been the recipients of prestigious scholarships such as “Be Discovered” NYC & LA, OIP, Cadence Finals scholarships and so much more. They have also earned apprenticing and assistant positions at prestigious conventions and workshops.  Many of Krista’s students have gone on to pursue dance and theatre at a professional level.

Krista brings excitement and charisma to her dance classes, and loves pushing the boundaries of dance training, technique and choreography. Krista believes that dance should be fun and dancers should leave the classroom and performances knowing they accomplished something amazing.
